Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurants

The University of Pittsburgh’s two main dining halls (The Eatery and The Perch at Sutherland) renewed their Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurants Gold designations in 2021. Both the Cathedral Cafe and Schenley Cafe earned Silver Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant designations for the first time in 2021!

In 2021, the University of Pittsburgh’s two main dining halls (The Eatery and The Perch at Sutherland) renewed their Gold designations under the Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurants program!  Additionally, both the Cathedral Cafe and Schenley Cafe earned Silver Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant designations for the first time in 2021!  The University of Pittsburgh achieved its first Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant designations in 2018 and continue to renew the certifications every 3 years, as required.

For all 4 Pitt locations, the Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant designations recognizes the commitment Pitt has to our community, our economy, and our planet. Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurants are evaluated based on 149 actions across 6 categories of  sustainability standards: waste reduction, water conservation, energy efficiency, people, responsible sourcing, and nutrition.
