Alyssa Martinec graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a BPhil in Political Science and International & Area Studies (2019) and is currently enrolled in Pitt’s Katz Graduate School of Business MBA program. Alyssa currently works for 3RSustainability as a Sustainability Consultant, and was previuosly the was the Sustainability Coordinator at Pitt’s Center for Sustainable Business. While an undergraduate at Pitt, Alyssa worked for Business and Auxiliary Services as a Student Sustainability Coordinator, as well as the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation (MCSI). She also helped lead various student initiatives, such as the Real Food Challenge and Take Back the Tap. Alyssa is especially interested in placing sustainability in a global context. She speaks both Chinese and German, and conducted independent research on public opinion on air quality in Shanghai, China.
Alyssa was a 2017 Pitt Sustainability Award Winner (Student) for being one of the most enthusiastic and motivated sustainability students at Pitt. During just her sophomore year, she had already had a significant impact on sustainability initiatives, including her accomplishments with Take Back the Tap, the Real Food Challenge, and as Student Sustainability Coordinator for Housing Food Services, and Panther Central.
