Dr. David Sanchez serves as assistant professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. Dave most recently spearheaded the creation of a Sustainable Engineering Master’s Program through the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation. The effort is the result of Dave’s passion and presence at the forefront of environmental projects at Pitt, since his first fellowship in the mid-2000s. Not only is Dave sustainably-driven, but he is committed to diversity — and was awarded the 2015 Swanson School of Engineering Faculty Diversity Award for his significant contributions to enhancing and supporting the School’s diversity priorities. Dr. Sanchez is a proven, dedicated member of Pitt’s faculty working hard to deliver equitable and sustainable initiatives on campus.
Dr. David Sanchez is 2018 Pitt Sustainability Award Winner (Faculty) for the successful launch of the Sustainability Certificate, advising certificate candidates, and excellence in teaching the inaugural Sustainability Capstone course. Through his attention, encouragement, and constant feedback, Dr. Sanchez has created a learning environment where students can excel and acquire the professional skills offered by the Capstone course. Dr. Sanchez’s research group is the Sustainable Design Labs.
