Earth Month 2023
Happy Earth Month! As members of the University of Pittsburgh community, we have the power to make a significant impact on the environment.
From LEED certified buildings to renewable energy initiatives, the University of Pittsburgh is committed to becoming a carbon neutral campus by 2037. There are many ways you can promote sustainability on campus, too, from joining a student organization focused on environmental issues to participating in volunteer opportunities and sustainability initiatives.

We encourage all members of our community to read Pitt’s 2018-2022 Sustainability Plan Progress Report for detailed updates on each of the Pitt Sustainability Plan‘s 68 sustainability goals!
Student Reusable Bag Design Contest
Submit a design for Pitt’s official 2023-24 reusable bag and you could win prizes worth $500 from the University Store and see your design printed on reusable bags used across campus!
Submit your design by Monday, April 18. The winning design will be announced on Friday, April 22 (Earth Day).
The winner’s artwork will be printed on one (1) or more bag options starting Fall 2023.
The University Stores will be eliminating the use of plastic bags and adding reusable options for customers.
