Introducing Bees to Kids

Bees are vital to our ecosystem and contribute valuable pollination to crops, gardens, and natural spaces. It is important for children to learn about bees so they can grow into adults that understand as well as care for nature and because bees are a fascinating species that spark curiosity and wonder in children!

In this workshop, Meghan Orman, a graduate student at Pitt, former Montessori preschool teacher, and Master Beekeeper, will discuss the roles bees play in our ecosystem and how to introduce these important species to children and adolescents in developmentally appropriate ways. The talk will include lessons and resources for exploring topics further.

This event is part of Pitt’s Pollinator Habitat Advisory Committee National Pollinator Week events.
