THE YEAR OF ENGAGEMENT: COMMUNITY-BASED SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEVELOPMENT IN GLOBAL SETTING- SOUTH AFRICA

This is first in the series of activities in the PITT Year of Engagement program to highlight the act of working collaboratively with others to solve problems for the betterment of society in line with UN Goals for Sustainable Development (UN GSD).The presentation will address the issues of environmental education, indigenous and cultural knowledge revival of community custodianship and conservation, issues of biodiversity areas in close proximity to people of color that suffered neglect past and present, and the impact on transformation. It is hoped that the seminar will help us gain insight of important factors in cultivating our own personal and emotional wellbeing as well as cultivating sustainable behavior at the community level.
