Pitt Tree Tender Training

  • Where: Virtual
  • When: Jan 28, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • Registration link: Click here
  • Campus: On Campus
  • Event Type: Internal

Love trees and want to learn how to care for them in Oakland or your home neighborhood? All Pitt employees and students are eligible to become a Tree Tender at no upfront cost, but must also commit a set number of hours to helping maintain street trees in Oakland in partnership with Oakland Planning and Development Corporation (OPDC).

Tree Tenders is a course from Tree Pittsburgh that teaches you all about trees! You’ll learn about urban forestry practices, tree biology and health, basic tree identification, proper pruning and maintenance, and how to lead your community in organizing tree plantings and tree care.

This free virtual Tree Tender training is brought to you by the University’s Office of Sustainability — and is anticipated to be a regular offering.

If you can’t attend live, we’ll have a recording for you. Everyone will have to complete an online quiz following the lecture in order to become a certified Tree Tender. You’ll receive all the info for accessing the webinar after registration. This course is not appropriate for participants under 16 years of age.
