Glove Recycling Pilot

In the second half of 2019, the University of Pittsburgh piloted glove recycling on campus in 7 locations, including several research laboratories, Dining, and the Student Office of Sustainability.  Pilot locations are able to divert all brands of nitrile and latex gloves from the landfill to a to a waste-to-energy facility.  Gloves are collected in labeled boxes, which are then sealed and shipped to a waste-to-energy facility in prepaid, pre-labeled boxes.

The University is able to provide this pilot at no cost to users in partnership with Medline (a University contracted supplier).
