Livingston Alexander House, Pitt Bradford (LEED Silver, 2020)

Introduction

The Livingston Alexander House is the newest residence hall on Pitt’s Bradford campus, housing 170 first year students. Residents live in 2-person bedrooms within a section of 24 to 36 students. The residence hall includes its own study lounge and fitness areas.

The 46,133 square foot building achieved LEED Silver in 2020

Green Building Highlights 

  • Thermal glass and insulation that helps reduce building-wide energy consumption by 30%.
  • High efficiency heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.
  • 100% renewable electricity was purchased for the first two years of building operation, reducing the building’s carbon footprint.  
  • Water efficient plumbing fixtures help reduce water consumption.
  • Construction materials included recycled and recyclable content.
  • Wood used in the building was harvested from sustainable forests.
  • Furniture is made from natural and recycled materials.
