New Dashboard Highlighting Healthy Ride at Pitt Utilization

Unveiling a new interactive Pitt Sustainability dashboard focused on Pitt student and employee bike share use of Healthy Ride since 2019.

We’re excited to unveil our newest interactive Sustainability Dashboard, focused on University of Pittsburgh student and employee utilization of Pittsburgh’s Healthy Ride bike share system.

Developed over the past year by undergraduate Aaron Carr and with Pitt Business & Auxiliary Services, the interactive dashboard allows you to view when, where, and how many individuals have taken advantage of Pitt’s unlimited 30-minute bike share offering since Fall 2019.

Pitt’s Healthy Ride partnership is a strategy to help achieve the 2018 Pitt Sustainability Plan goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from commuter transportation 50% by 2030 (below 2013 Oakland baselines).

First launched in January 2020, the interactive Pitt Sustainability Dashboard works to strengthen transparency, advance analytic capabilities, and quantify the University’s impact as a sustainability leader.

All current Pitt Sustainability Dashboards focus on key Pitt Sustainability Plan performance indicators in Stewardship and Food Systems, including greenhouse gas emissions, compostable collection, food recovery, Real Food Challenge, and building energy and water use intensity progress and achievements.

Special thanks to Aaron Carr (Env Studies ’22 & Pitt EcoRep), who developed this dashboard under the tutelage of Jonathan Coles (SSOE ’20, Pitt IT, & developer of all other Pitt Sustainability Dashboards to-date), advised by Nick Goodfellow (Sustainability, BAS) and Dr. Aurora Sharrard (Office of Sustainability).
