2026 Pitt Sustainability Award Nominations Are Open

Celebrating sustainability leadership at Pitt

For more than a decade, the University of Pittsburgh has honored faculty, staff, students, and groups for their contributions to campus sustainability in areas spanning the three categories of the Pitt Sustainability Plan: Stewardship, Exploration, and Community and Culture. Nominations are now open for the 2026 awards, with awards being presented at a luncheon on April 24:

  • Erika Ninos Student Leadership Award
    Recognizes one Pitt student annually who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and dedication to advancing sustainability.
  • Pitt Sustainability Awards
    Celebrates Pitt faculty, staff, students, and groups who make extraordinary impacts on campus sustainability.
  • Student Sustainability Champions
    Honors graduating students who have dedicated considerable time and talents to advance sustainability efforts across campus, in the community, and beyond.
  • Innovation Award *new*
    Celebrates projects that have creatively advanced campus sustainability through innovative solutions, partnerships, or paradigm-shifting approaches.
  • Regional Campus Award *new*
    Spotlights regional campus students, faculty, and staff who have demonstrated positive impact toward a more sustainable future.

Nominations are due Monday, February 16.
