Scaife Hall's West Wing addition and renovation earned LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, making it Pitt's 20th LEED-certified building and the seventh for Pitt Health Sciences. The project added a seven-story wing with updated learning spaces, a renovated library, and a new café. Sustainability features include LED lighting, heat recovery systems, occupancy-based ventilation, 100% renewable electricity (including a rooftop solar array), and diversion of nearly 75% of construction waste from the landfill. Materials like theater seats, wood flooring, and aluminum panels were salvaged for reuse.
