October is Campus Sustainability Month

Held every October, Campus Sustainability Month is an international celebration of sustainability in higher education. Highlights From the 21st Annual MCSI Undergraduate Research Symposium

The Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation celebrated its 21st Annual Undergraduate Symposium, showcasing projects from 29 students, including Breckenridge scholars. The Summer Undergraduate Research Program featured projects with diverse topics such as alternative energy solutions, sustainable consumption behavior in Pennsylvania, and the optimization of traffic signals to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Congratulations to all the students for advancing sustainable innovation, and special congratulations to this year’s winners!

Pitt’s sustainability journey is robust and comprehensive, driven by the 2018 Pitt Sustainability Plan and 2022 Pitt Climate Action Plan. In 2024, we expanded our sustainability and climate action efforts across the University, encompassing more offices, departments, divisions, and infrastructure, engaging a growing number of partners.
