V. has worked at the University of Pittsburgh since 2019, beginning as a biochemistry research technician at the Chen Drug Discovery Lab, then at the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, and is now continuing her education as an Ecology & Evolution major while working as a sustainability coordinator and lab technician at Open Lab in Hillman Library.
In 2020, V. led the Chen Drug Discovery Lab's efforts to become a Pitt Green Lab, and in 2023, she organized efforts for Open Lab to become a Pitt Green Lab/Office.
After participating in the University of Pittsburgh's All We Can Save Circle in 2024, V. became interested in initiating more sustainability practices in Open Lab and is excited to collaborate with Pitt Sustainability to close loops and educate staff, students, faculty, and our community about creative resources and shared technologies to advance sustainable initiatives and innovation. For fun, she likes to paint, make digital and microscopy art, play tag with her cat, and take pictures of plants around Pittsburgh to identify and learn about them. It feels kind of like collecting Pokémon.
