On March 21, 2019, Sustainable Pittsburgh announced the winners of the 2018-2019 Sustainable Pittsburgh Challenge. The SP Challenge is a friendly competition that encourages businesses, schools, and municipalities in the southwestern Pennsylvania region to track their sustainability performance. This year’s competition featured over 100 organizations, each taking actions to earn points in the challenge. The actions fall within 7 sustainability focus areas: Air Quality, Materials Management, Social Equity, Engagement, Energy, Water, and Transportation.
Pitt won first place in the University Division, raking in a whopping 1,080 points! What’s more, this is the fourth year that Pitt has entered the competition and won the University division.
