Pitt on Top 30 Green Powered Universities List (July 2019)


Pitt ranks #29 among the largest U.S. university green power users!

After becoming an U.S. EPA Green Power Partner for the first time in 2018, the University of Pittsburgh joined the Top 30 Colleges and Universities list as one of the largest green power users.  As of July 2019, the University is #29 on the largest green power users list.

The list reflects the Top 30 higher education institutions within the EPA’s Green Power Partnership who purchase and/or generate large volumes of renewable electricity. 2019 was Pitt’s first time as a partner –and making the Top 30 list.  Fellow Pittsburgh university Carnegie Mellon University ranked #9. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) generates the Top 30 Colleges and Universities list annually and measures the highest green power usage in the nation for many sectors.
