Pitt Sustainability Challenge Announced: Calling Creative & Innovative Thinkers

The University of Pittsburgh has active sustainability efforts and initiatives across disciplines, domains, and scales — as detailed in the Pitt Sustainability Plan and Pitt Climate Action Plan. This includes reaching carbon neutrality by 2037. To support this goal and further carbon neutrality solutions, the University is excited to announce the Pitt Sustainability Challenge.

The Pitt Sustainability Challenge will award $300,000 for implementation of a proposal that is impactful, durable, and feasible to advancing carbon neutrality in the Pitt community. Solutions must be integrated with Pitt’s strategies, particularly the Pitt Sustainability Plan and Pitt Climate Action Plan.

Members of the Pitt community and the general public are invited to apply; teams are highly encouraged. Participants must register by March 8, 2023, at 9:00pm (EST) to be eligible to submit an application. Applications are due by April 5, 2023, and finalists will be announced in June 2023.

Pitt welcomes creative and innovative minds the opportunity to join in the University’s legacy, hasn’t shied away from difficult challenges, leverages knowledge for society’s gain, and revolutionizes what is considered possible.
