Pitt Wins the Sustainable Pittsburgh Challenge, University Division

Pitt places first in the 2018-2019 Sustainable Pittsburgh Challenge University Division!

On March 21, 2019, Sustainable Pittsburgh announced the winners of the 2018-2019 Sustainable Pittsburgh Challenge. The SP Challenge is a friendly competition that encourages businesses, schools, and municipalities in the southwestern Pennsylvania region to track their sustainability performance.  This year’s competition featured over 100 organizations, each taking action to earn points in the challenge. The actions fall within 7 sustainability focus areas: Air Quality, Materials Management, Social Equity, Engagement, Energy, Water, and Transportation.

Pitt won first place in the University Division, raking in a whopping 1,080 points! What’s more, this is the fourth year that Pitt has entered the competition and won the University division.  Check out this post, which details the 2018 sustainability achievements big and small that helped Pitt earn to take home first place in the Sustainable Pittsburgh Challenge.
