At Pitt, we’re keeping more materials out of landfills. In fiscal year 2024, we diverted 49% of materials to recycling or reuse. While the University doesn’t have a formal zero waste goal, more of our campus community is adopting a zero waste mindset.

The U.S. Green Building Council honored the Alan Magee Scaife Hall West Wing addition and renovation with LEED Gold certification, the second-highest rank in the green building rating system.
