Green Building Highlights

  • The building has a high efficiency (window) glazing system, an air barrier to reduce infiltration, and insulation systems for the roof and walls and foundations that help reduce energy waste and consumption.
  • LED lighting fixtures throughout the building that last longer and are more energy efficient.
  • A total energy wheel heat exchanger located in each of the rooftop units helps recover energy by reclaiming heat from general and restroom exhaust air.
  • The building has a full airside economizer, which brings outside air into a building, helping to reduce the need for mechanical cooling (and thus energy consumption).
  • In laboratories, a fume hood optimization strategy helps reduce energy consumption.
  • The building has low-flow and low-flush fixtures to conserve water.
  • Stormwater mitigation efforts were significant, including bioretention areas.
  • There is no irrigation for landscaping.
  • Raw materials and ingredients that are environmentally friendly were prioritized.
  • Parking space reduction was utilized to help increase campus green space.

The building also features:

  • Recycling throughout
  • Water bottle filling station
