The Pitt-Bradford Sustainability Committee includes faculty, staff, and students committed to advancing sustainability on the University of Pittsburgh’s Bradford’s campus. The committee meets semi-annually to review priorities and set new goals.
Current committee priorities include:
- Developing the first Pitt-Bradford Sustainability Plan
- Identifying key renovations and opportunities to optimize building efficiency across campus
- Advancing on-campus renewable energy opportunities that complement the existing UPB rooftop solar (including on George B. Duke Engineering & Information Technologies Building)
- Creating opportunities for students to engage in sustainability on and off campus
- Advancing activities contributing to the reduction of Pitt-Bradford’s greenhouse gas emissions, as quantified in its first Greenhouse Gas Inventory

In FY2025, the Pitt- Bradford Sustainability Committee created the Ad Hoc Pitt-Bradford Sustainability Plan Subcommittee. The Ad Hoc Subcommittee is tasked with developing and publishing a Pitt-Bradford Sustainability Plan that reflects Pitt-Bradford’s internal stakeholder priorities and existing University-wide sustainability goals, while setting discrete performance objectives.

Planning Efforts
The Ad Hoc Pitt-Bradford Sustainability Plan Subcommittee kicked off their planning efforts in August 2024. The committee meets bi-weekly and has led efforts to engage students and employees at Pitt-Bradford around setting sustainability goals. So far, the committee has engaged with 279 students, 95 staff, and 65 faculty members through the 2024 Pitt-Bradford Sustainability Survey, January 2025 Sustainability Workshop and the April 2025 Sustainability Workshop.
