Meet the sustainability interns from various departments at Pitt!

OFFICE OF SUSTAINABILITY

Josh Clement

Josh is the Pitt Office of Sustainability Project Intern.  He’s a Senior majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Environmental Engineering and a certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).  Josh is also the President of Students for Sustainability. He grew up in Mt. Airy, Maryland (right outside of Baltimore) and became interested in natural water resource sustainability by living in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Josh loves camping, hiking, baking, and reading.

Haley Gimbel

Haley is the Communications Intern for Pitt’s Office of Sustainability. She’s a Senior pursuing degrees in Environmental Studies and Economics with a certificate in Sustainability. Haley’s sustainability interests lie in renewable energy and sustainable food production. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking, going to the beach, and running with her dog.


MASCARO CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION

Alyssa Martinec

Alyssa is completing a BA in Political Science and a BPhil in International & Area Studies with a concentration in sustainability and ecology in China. She also has a certificate in German for the Liberal Arts. Alyssa grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, and loves cats, chai tea lattes, traveling, and Animal Crossing.

Anna Coleman

Anna is a sophomore from Hulmeville, Pennsylvania. She is majoring in Economics and Statistics with a minor in Spanish and a Global Studies Certificate in Ecology and Sustainability. Anna loves to read, be outside, and spend time with the people she cares about.


ATHLETICS

Marissa Rollman

As the Sustainability Coordinator for Pitt Athletics, Marissa’s responsibilities include making internal and external improvements within the department to align with the goals in Pitt’s Sustainability Plan. She is a senior Environmental Studies major with certificates in Sustainability and GIS.


DINING

Lyndee Feick

Lyndee Feick is a Sustainability Intern for Pitt Dining, focused on reducing single-use containers in Pitt’s dining facilities. She’s a Senior double majoring in Environmental and Urban Studies, while pursuing a certificate in Sustainability. On campus, Lyndee is involved in Pitt Pathfinders, Student Consultants for Nonprofit Organizations, and a Pre-Law fraternity.

Hope Kelly

Hope Kelly is the Food Waste Intern for Pitt Dining, which includes organizing composting initiatives on campus, running food waste audits, and developing marketing strategies to encourage food waste reduction.  She’s a a Senior Environmental Studies major with a minor in Economics and certificate in Sustainability.

Annie Luongo

Annie is the Nutrition Intern for Pitt Dining. She’s a Senior majoring in Nutrition and Dietetics with a minor in Chemistry.  Annie is also a Zumba instructor for PittRec, a PantherWELL, and the VP of Food Procurement for the Pitt Pantry.

Bridget Trimble

Bridget is a Sustainability Intern for Pitt Dining, where she focuses on improving and promoting plant-based options on campus.  Bridget has been a Pitt Dining intern since Fall 2017.  She is a Senior studying Environmental Science and a Cleveland native.


FACILITIES

Aja Stamps-Richardson

Aja is a Facilities Sustainability Intern.  She is a Pitt Senior working towards a minor in Sociology and a major in Health Management.  Her favorite color is teal and during her free time I enjoy dancing, reading, and watching television.

Madison Holden 

Madison is Pitt Facilities’ sustainability and energy management liaison heading Pitt’s efforts with the Sustainable Pittsburgh Challenge, Campus-wide Tree Inventory, and Sustainable Goal Tracking. They are majoring in Biology and minoring in Religious Studies, Secondary Education, and Chemistry.

Dan Passarello

Dan is in his second year as an intern in Sustainability Operations and Management.  He’s a Senior graduating in Fall 2018 with a major in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Industrial Engineering.

Joe Zappitelli 

Joe is a Sustainability and Energy Management Intern with Facilities Management.  His role has included applying for energy efficiency rebates, coordinating cross-campus distribution of free energy efficient light bulbs from Duquesne Light Company, analyzing energy and water usage savings across campus, and completing tasks for the “Sustainable Pittsburgh Challenge.” Joe is a Senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering and a certificate in Sustainability.


Student Office of Sustainability

Ellie Cadden 

Ellie is a junior Environmental Studies major pursuing minors in Spanish and Legal Studies. She is a Program Assistant to the Sustainability Programs Coordinator in the Office of PittServes.

Sam Ressin

Same Ressin is a junior at the University of Pittsburgh studying Economics and Statistics. He is active on campus as the chair of the Green Fund, a student board that funds sustainable projects, and the past president of the Climate Stewardship Society, a student group that work s to bridge the political divide on climate change. In his free time, Sam enjoys singing as a bass in the Pitt Men’s Glee Club and biking along the three rivers.

Forest Goebel 

Forest Goebel is a Senior Human Resources major at the University of Pittsburgh. He is the Board Director of Thriftsburgh, and also sits on the Student Office of Sustainability Council. In his free time you can find him shooting photos, skateboarding, or enjoying the outdoors. After college Forest hopes to pursue a career in nonprofit management.

Kaylie Jones 

Kaylie has been involved with sustainability on campus since she joined Engineers for a Sustainable World in 2015. Being a part of the projects, attending the conferences, and seeing all that was being done on campus turned sustainability into a passion. Kaylie is working toward a major in environmental engineering, with a minor in chemical engineering and a certificate in sustainability. She remains involved with ESW and loves working with the Student Office of Sustainability. She plans to join the Peace Corps after graduation and then work in sustainability management and non-profits.
