Dr. Noe Copley-Woods is Assistant Dean for Sustainability in the University of Pittsburgh’s, School of Medicine and an Assistant Professor of OB/Gyn. She serves on the UPMC Center for Sustainability steering committee and is a founding director of Clinicians for Climate Action, a UPMC and Pitt-based group of 500+ clinicians committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from healthcare systems.

Dr Woods is also course director for the “Planetary Health” elective at Pitt’s School of Medicine — and a member of UPMC’s Environmental Initiatives Steering Committee.  Her pioneering research involves environmental life cycle assessment of medical procedures, including surgery and childbirth, with the goal of reducing the environmental effects of health care practices.  She is a graduate of the Climate Health Fellowship through Cambridge Health Alliance at Harvard Medical School and frequent speaker nationally on the environmental impacts of medicine.
